Job Posting: Disabilities Specialist

Ensure that the Disabilities (1308) Head Start Performance Standards are met in Head Start and Early Head Start.

This position will be traveling to Alachua, Gilchrist, Levy and Dixie County.

    1. Establish and implement the disabilities service plan.
    2. Track/monitor activities contained in the disabilities service plan.
    3. Develop and implement recruitment strategies that promote enrollment of children with disabilities.
    4. Arrange for formal evaluation of a child who after the initial screening has been identified as possibly having a disability.
    5. Collaborate with staff to meet the special needs of children with disabilities which include education, health, nutrition, social services, and parent involvement.

Assists the Center Director with the leadership, program management, and coordination of the local Head Start program. The Assistant Center Director also provides support in communication, resource development, and team effectiveness. The Center Director and Assistant Center Director may delegate direct supervision and evaluation to staff members in designated support services, including transportation and disabilities staff. The Assistant Center Director also provides leadership and supports program mentoring strategies in place.
