Community Coordinated Care, Inc. of Orlando Father Named Florida Head Start Association Father of the Year

TALLAHASSEE, FL – September 18, 2018 – Daniel Grant of Orlando has been selected as the Florida Head Start Association (FHSA), Father of the Year for his ability to serve as a role model for his children and make a positive difference in the community.

Mr. Grant has been an active volunteer for the past two years at the Community Coordinated Care for Children, Inc. Orlando Head Start/Early Head Start Program. As a Policy Council Representative, he has facilitated parent meetings, involved in planning activities and participated in Guest Readers week where he read to the children in the classrooms. He has also taken the initiative to better himself by taking educational trainings being offered at the program like an eight-week nutrition course and an eight-month Fatherhood Curriculum. His goal is to speak with fathers in the program and in the community to encourage their active participation in their children’s lives. He is a prime example of what family engagement is all about.
Ms. Darlene McKinney, Family Advocate stated, “Mr. Grant is a young father, showing a very positive influence on not only his children but other young children in the community. Mr. Grant has worked very hard to be “present” and “hands-on” father figure.”

Mr. Grant has been seen as a person that is dependable, consistent and most importantly engaged with his children. He can be seen promoting literacy and encouraging children to be more physically active and imparting a health conscious state of mind.

The 2019 awards were selected by a panel and recipients will be honored during FHSA annual awards luncheon in West Palm Beach attended by Head Start/Early Head Start Directors, Staff, Parents and early childhood education leaders.
