Preventing risky behavior is key to keeping children safe. The Positive Culture Framework is an effective model to increase protective behaviors across a variety of disciplines, including substance abuse and child maltreatment. This interactive presentation explores a hope-based approach to preventing risky behaviors and how culture, and our misperceptions of culture, impact community norms. The presenters will show how the Framework has been used to change behavior among multiple audiences including youth, parents, and service providers. Participants will learn about work from the CDC, the West Virginia Home Visitation Program, and other projects to understand how the Framework has been implemented to increase positive parenting behaviors. Parent survey data from a Florida community will be shared which exemplifies how important perceptions are when working to increase protective parent behaviors. This workshop will also expose participants to early messaging used in a local community to reduce child maltreatment.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
