  1. Join FHSA and GoCheck Kids tomorrow, October 19, for our October Lunch & Learn. At 12:00 p.m. ET, our Corporate Friends member GoCheck Kids will share their iPhone-based vision screening solution and what it screens for and discuss how they work with Head Start programs all over the US to make vision screening quick and easy. 

  2. Congress must reinvigorate the nation's Head Start program, Our country is facing an urgent crisis: the early-educator shortage. Earlier this year, the National Head Start Association reported that 19% of Head Start staff positions were vacant nationwide, leading to the closure of 20% of all Head Start classrooms. As of August, the entire child care workforce was 40,000 less than pre-pandemic. EdSource 

  3. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It’s the perfect time to take action to help end domestic violence by increasing your knowledge. Join the National Center on Parent, Family, and Community Engagement for their webinar Understanding Economic Abuse as a Form of Domestic Violence webinar on Thursday, October 19, 2023, @ 3:00 PM ET. Attendees will learn strategies Head Start and Early Head Start programs can integrate family economic mobility approaches into their programming.
