The Florida Head Start Association Welcomes Its Newest Elected Member to the Board of Directors
Tallahassee, FL., June 2, 2022 - The Florida Head Start Association (FHSA) is pleased to announce its newest member to the FHSA Board of Directors, Temple DePlato, Episcopal Children's Services Chief Administrative Officer. FHSA members were sent an election ballot via email May 19 - 27, 2022, to fill the vacant Director At Large seat after Mary Grace Romo was promoted to the Head Start Director position at the Lee County Head Start program.
We are happy to announce our new addition to the FHSA Board of Directors and excited about Temple's passion and expertise in supporting the FHSA mission of supporting Head Start programs and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to children and families.
Why do you want to serve on the FHSA Board of Directors?
I currently am serving on the Florida Head Start Association membership committee. Through my work with this committee, I have seen firsthand the impact that the Florida Head Start Association can have on enhancing and supporting the capability of the local Head Start programs in the delivery of high-quality services for our children and families. As our local programs face challenges recruiting and retaining staff, the Florida Head Start Association is the perfect vehicle for providing advocacy, support, and resources. I am enthusiastic about Head Start and the priorities Dr. Futrell has listed especially investing in the workforce and advancing equity. I have a passion for human resources and feel that these two initiatives are extremely important in the current labor environment.
What skills and talents would you bring to the FHSA Board of Directors?
I have worked in Head Start and Early Head Start programs for over 15 years. I have held several positions, including, Teacher, Center Manager, Quality Improvement Specialist, and Human Resources Manager. In these roles, I have developed effective communication and problem-solving skills. My people-centric nature and systems approach has helped me learn how to deliver sustainable quality improvement initiatives. I enjoy working in a collaborative group of leaders to find innovative solutions.
On behalf of the FHSA Board of Directors, our members, and partners across Florida, Welcome Temple!
