  1. Early detection is what Head Start is all about. GoCheck Kids provides an easy way to detect pediatric vision problems early. Wall charts are ineffective with younger children, they don't catch issues before they can read or talk, and treatment becomes less effective starting at age 4. GoCheck Kids' vision screening platform enables Head Start to vision screen early and effectively.

  2. Here are some additional resources on children's vision and eye health by the National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety to support children enrolled in Head Start programs and providers who work in early intervention. A resource on eye safety and preventing eye injuries in young children is also available.

  3. Responsive Services to Families who are New Arrivals to the United States on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 @ 2:00 PM, ET. Join The Office of Head Start for their Voices Cafe series to discuss providing and receiving services that are responsive to the needs of new arrivals to the United States.

Please visit our WYNTK resource webpage, which is updated regularly, and the FHSA events list for more information. If there is something else you need guidance on, let us know - we will continue to work with state agencies and partners to answer your questions.

Sincerely,
