Director-At-Large Candidate, Angela De La Rosa

Children First Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start, Families First Institute Manager

Why do you want to serve on the FHSA Board of Directors?

Having once been a Head Start child and now serving as a dedicated staff member with over 20 years of experience, I hold a deep and personal connection to this program's mission. I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact that early childhood education has on the lives of children and their families.

Throughout my career, I've been privileged to work alongside passionate professionals and families who share the common goal of providing every child with a strong foundation for success. My extensive experience within the program has only deepened my commitment to its mission and strengthened my desire to contribute to its growth and continued success on a broader scale. Having spent two decades in various capacities within Head Start, I've gained a comprehensive understanding of both the challenges and triumphs involved in delivering quality early childhood education and family services.

Serving on the Florida Head Start Board of Directors would offer me a unique opportunity to bring my full range of experiences to the table, both as a former Head Start child and as a dedicated staff member. I understand the critical needs of children and families, the importance of building strong, community-based programs, and the challenges we face in securing the resources and support necessary to ensure success.

What skills and talents would you bring to the FHSA Board of Directors?

With over 20 years of experience in Head Start across various roles, I bring a strong mix of skills that will support the work of the FHSA Board of Directors. My extensive experience has provided me with a deep understanding of Head Start's daily operations, challenges, and successes, allowing me to offer practical and informed perspectives on decision-making. I value collaboration and have built strong partnerships with staff, families, and community organizations to achieve shared goals, which is essential for effective governance. Having worked in diverse communities, I deeply empathize with the unique struggles that families face, and I am committed to cultural competency and ensuring that all families, regardless of background, receive the support they need. In addition to my hands-on experience, I've had the privilege of mentoring staff and leading teams to ensure best practices are followed. I take great pride in supporting others, and I approach my work with both care and compassion for the families we serve. I am excited to bring this leadership experience and empathy to the Board, helping to shape the future of Head Start in Florida. My dedication to this mission is personal, and I look forward to using my knowledge and skills to help support and strengthen Head Start programs across the state.
