We are all shaped by culture! Factors such as family, community, and history impact each of our values, beliefs, and practices. In turn, our values, beliefs, and practices impact how we support children and families. As home visitors, it is important to explore, nurture, and grow your ability to honor each family’s unique, evolving culture while you partner with them to support their child’s development and learning.

This webinar describes how the Multicultural Principles (MCPs) can help you bring greater meaning and understanding to your interactions and relationships with parents and children. The MCPs lay the foundation for building trust, garnering respect, valuing family identities, and understanding the reciprocal exchange of information between home visitors and families. Explore how to use the MCPs to identify and examine perceptions and unconscious biases that might affect engagement. Hear from experts at the National Center on Early Childhood Development, Teaching, and Learning (NCECDTL) and National Center on Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (NCPFCE) about strategies you can put into practice tomorrow.
