Familial and cultural beliefs about discipline influence the attitudes and feelings we develop as children and our approach to child-rearing when we become adults. Helping early childhood staff learn child behavior management practices to promote healthy development includes learning to use positive discipline strategies and manage personal reactions to children’s behavior in ways that may be different from their own familial and cultural beliefs.
