Emotional literacy is the ability to identify, understand, and respond to emotions in oneself and others in a healthy way. Research shows that children with strong emotional literacy skills have greater academic achievement, are more focused and less impulsive, and engage in more positive behaviors. Adults have an important role in teaching and fostering the growth of these skills in children.
