Give Back to the Community — Join Us After the Conference!

Head Start has always been rooted in community, connection, and service. As we wrap up this year’s conference, we invite you to carry that spirit forward by joining a special volunteer opportunity with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

This hands‑on experience is a meaningful way to support families in Central Florida, spend time with fellow attendees, and continue the heart‑work that defines our Head Start community.

How to Register

Each volunteer should complete the following steps:

  • Visit the volunteer registration link and create an account on the Volunteer Portal. If you are already registered with Second Harvest, you can skip this step.
  • On the calendar, select October 29 and click SIGN UP. The calendar will display the shift reserved for the Florida Head Start Association, making registration quick and easy.

What to Wear & Safety Requirements

Please review the following requirements before arriving:

  • Arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.
  • Volunteers must be age 10 or older.
  • Wear closed-toe and closed-heel shoes.
  • Be prepared to stand for extended periods and lift boxes/items.
  • Wear comfortable, appropriate clothing.
  • Cell phones, smart watches, and ear devices may not be used in sorting areas.
  • Outside food and drinks are not permitted in sorting areas.

Helpful Information

Warehouse temperature: The warehouse temperature is typically similar to the temperature outside because of deliveries and pickups. If the weather is cooler, layers are recommended. If it is warmer, shorts are acceptable.
Drinking water: Water is provided in the volunteer break room.
Onsite eating space: Volunteers are welcome to use the Volunteer & Staff Breakroom during their shift. 

Cancellations & Early Departures

If you need to cancel your participation in this volunteer event, please notify [email protected] at least 24 hours in advance, unless extreme circumstances arise.

If you need to leave before the scheduled 4:00 p.m. end time, please notify the Second Harvest volunteer team as soon as possible.
