A Message from FHSA Executive Director
Dear Florida Head Start Community,
With the federal government now reopened, we find ourselves emerging from a period of
uncertainty that affected families, programs, and staff across our state. While operations resume
and routines begin to settle, it’s important to acknowledge the emotional toll this disruption may
have caused. Many are returning to work carrying stress, fatigue, and the weight of having held
things together through challenging circumstances.
This is a moment to pause.
We encourage programs to take a breath with their teams—to step back and revisit the foundational
values that make Head Start so powerful: safe and nurturing environments, health and safety, and
the well-being of those who care for others. Supporting staff isn’t just a kindness—it’s a necessity.
When we care for our teams, we strengthen our programs, and ultimately, our impact on children
and families.
FHSA stands with you in this season of reflection and renewal. Whether it’s through team check-ins,
wellness practices, or simply creating space to regroup, we urge you to prioritize the people who make
Head Start thrive. Your leadership, your compassion, and your commitment continue to inspire us.
Thank you for all you do. Together, we’ll move forward with clarity, care, and purpose.
In Partnership,
Wanda Minick
Executive Director
