FHSA Tracking Hurricane Isaias
Date: October 8, 2026
From: Wanda Minick
As the first storm in the Atlantic this year to reach Hurricane status, Isaias strengthened early this morning to Category 1 and is tracking west toward Mobile, AL, with maximum sustained winds up to 80 m.p.h. Max. sustained.
The National Hurricane Center projects the storm will intensify further over the next day or so, though uncertainty remains about how strong it will be when it makes landfall late Friday or early Saturday. Hurricane Isaias is projected to peak as a Category 2 or low-end Category 3 storm.
Now is the time to prepare, heed all warnings, stay tuned to local weather officials, and make your plans NOW if you are in the impacted areas. This includes stocking up on non-perishable food, water, and essential supplies, securing your program and home, and having an emergency communication plan.
