Here's what you need to know

  1. Policy Alert: HHS released press release regarding a notice reinterpreting a 1998 federal law—now classifying Head Start as a “federal public benefit” under the statute. This marks a significant shift in longstanding policy. FHSA is actively reviewing the notice with legal and policy experts and will continue to update program leaders as details unfold.

  2. Join FHSA for our Lunch & Learn: Nominate Like a Pro – July 15 at 12 PM EDT. Struggling with the awards nomination process? Join us for this quick webinar to sharpen your nomination skills and get your questions answered. Whether it’s your first time or you’re honoring a Head Start champion, this session will help you do it confidently.

  3. ICYMI: The FHSA Awards Nomination Deadline has been extended to July 22, 2025. Let’s not miss this chance to honor the heart and hustle behind Head Start—those everyday champions whose passion lifts children, families, shaping futures, and strengthens communities. Take advantage of the extra time to share their stories and make sure their impact is seen, felt, and celebrated statewide.
