Here's what you need to know

  1. Head Start Tip of the Week — Attendance & Vacant Slots: OHS’s IM‑25‑06 clarifies how programs must track monthly attendance and determine vacant slots at the start of the program year. Now is a good time to review your policies and procedures to ensure they align with these requirements. Accurate reporting is critical. Misreporting enrollment or skipping required attendance analysis can create compliance issues. Be sure any special enrollment or attendance decisions are well‑documented and supported by written policies that match the regulations.

  2. Public Comment Open – SR Attendance & Reimbursement Rules. The Florida Division of Early Learning has opened public comment on proposed updates to Child Attendance and School Readiness Provider Reimbursements. Changes include new eligibility criteria for the special needs differential, reimbursement for a staff training day, and clarified attendance verification requirements. The comment period runs April 15–May 6, 2026.

  3. Florida communities now have the opportunity to apply for the Florida Children’s Initiative Planning Grant, a place‑based effort designed to support neighborhoods working to improve outcomes for children and families. Communities without an existing FCI designation are encouraged to apply. Click here to learn more.

Please visit our WYNTK resource webpage, for archived WYNTK and FHSA events for more information. If there is something else you need guidance on, let us know - we are happy to connect with you and learn how FHSA can serve you better.
